From the jury report, “We appreciate the tension between her (soft) use of textile materials and her content-based imagery, in which she uses, for example, processed war images. Unfortunately a very topical theme. We particularly like how Anke connects the historical context of her work, namely that of the narrative tapestry, with more contemporary themes. Anke Land’s work has roots in the past but also looks to the future. The plan she submitted has a clear direction and focus. We are excited about her ambition to apply the latest techniques to her work.”
